Chandra Shekhar Biography
Chandra Shekhar was an Indian politician and legislator. He served as Prime Minister of India from 1990 to 1991. He was a leading member of the Socialist party until joining the Congress party in 1964. In 1975 he split with Congress leader Indira Ghandi and shortly after spent time in prison during the national emergency she had declared at the time. After resigning as Prime Minister in 1991, he remained a caretaker until he was eventually replaced by P.V. Narasimha Rao. He continued to be active in politics until his death in 2007.
